Ida C. Watts, a resident of Livingston, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond after a strong battle with Lou Gherig's disease. She was 80. Ida was a charter and longtime member of Livingston United Methodist Church and was most recently a member of Corbin United Methodist Church in Walker. She was as much of a professional homemaker as could be. She was known for her love and talent of gardening, cooking and sewing. Visitation was at Livingston United Methodist Church, Livingston, Sunday and Monday until services, officiated by the Rev. Lewis Morris. Burial was in Old Red Oak Cemetery, Livingston. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and V.J. Balfantz and Jonice and Hulan Rutland; son, Johnnie Watts Jr.; grandchildren and spouses, Billy and Stacy Balfantz, Wade and Jo Ann Balfantz Sadowsky, Joe and Glynnis Carpenter Perkins, and Susan Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Katie and Lainey Balfantz, Sara and Jace Sadowsky, Nicole and Julie Perkins, and Trent and Jonathan Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Watts Sr.; parents, Joe and Annie Broussard Carpenter; six brothers, Charlers “Bud", Lafayette, Donald, Fredrick, William and Edward Carpenter; and five sisters, Virginia and Sarah Carpenter, Lou Efferson, Florence Green and Alberta Severio. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston. Services were performed under the direction of Seale Funeral Service Inc., Denham Springs.
